Kathryn Baker Parks
A native of Fayetteville, Kathryn discovered yoga shortly after leaving her job as a lawyer in pursuit of a more fulfilling career. During this uncertain transition, Kathryn searched for something that would help ground her both spiritually and emotionally. She found these qualities (and more) in the practice of yoga. As a self-described “gym rat”, Kathryn was naturally drawn to the vigorous and athletic style of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Since being introduced to the practice, she has strived to maintain a daily yoga practice. Over the years, she has observed the profound impact of yoga in her life – from the development of strength and flexibility, an increase in confidence, a greater sense of emotional peace, and a greater recognition of purpose in life.
Kathryn firmly believes that yoga can benefit all people regardless of age, shape, or background. Yoga is not just for the young and fit. Because of this, she teaches a variety of classes – from vigorous Ashtanga to gentle hatha yoga for beginners. Her focus is on trying to individualize the practice as much as possible within a traditional group class setting. As a teacher, Kathryn strives to create a comfortable and playful environment where each student can expand and deepen his or her understanding of yoga and life.
