Introducing Kristen Albertson

New Yoga Teacher at Millennium

Kristen Albertson PhotoWe are excited to introduce a new instructor to the studio.  Kristen Albertson is a Fayetteville native and a long-time practitioner of ashtanga yoga and other hatha yoga forms. She began studying ashtanga yoga while living in Chicago in 1999. She is a registered yoga teacher and has obtained certification to teach hatha yoga. Kristen maintains a committed, daily self practice of yoga and meditation. She continues to study with both master ashtanga teacher Louise Ellis and Matthew Krepps of Circle Yoga Shala. She is the proud mother of two young children and works as a litigation attorney. Kristen believes the regular practice of yoga lends equanimity to anyone who practices with commitment and an attitude of surrender.

Ashtanga Flow

Saturdays (8:00-9:15 am)

This class is a creative exploration of the flowing practice of ashtanga yoga.  It draws heavily from the postures and elements of the traditional ashtanga yoga practice (breath, bandhas, gaze, coordination and concentration), while allowing a natural, dynamic sequence of postures to unfold.  You will build strength, explore your flexibility, learn new poses and gain insight into the transformational union of breath and movement inherent in the vinyasa form.  This is an invigorating and truly fun approach to the practice of yoga.  Modifications will be made for those new to yoga and for those already established in an advanced practice.  All levels are welcome.

Yin Flow

Mondays (6:30-7:30 pm)

Students will be guided through a series of yin postures held for longer periods of time designed to gently cultivate flexibility in the body.  The class then explores some of  the traditional asanas (or “poses”) of Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, with basic to challenging options offered. Calming breathing techniques and the meditative aspect of the practice may be featured.  This class emphasizes meditative, breath-led movement and encourages a strong inward focus.  Each class ends with time for an extended relaxation that leaves the student balanced, relaxed, and ready for a good night’s sleep.  No prior experience. All levels welcome.
